Description
ArchInit is an attempt at improving the boot performance of the ArchLinux distribution. It replaces the major parts of the boot process (shell scripts) with compiled programs. It is written in C++.
For more information, you can read Arch Linux Magazine, issue 2, page 5.
This project has stayed dormant for years before being superseeded by systemd. We however learnt a lot on this experiment because it demystified the boot process of our ArchLinux distro.
